Synopsis: A Chinese special force soldier has a contract taken out on him by a drug lord for killing his brother during a drug raid.

Wu Jing follows up his debut feature film Legendary Assassin with Wolf Warrior. And just like its predecessor Wu Jing is once again the protagonist. And the similarities don’t end there as he portrays a similar character who joins forces with law enforcement / the military and works just outside of the rules which are normally associated with good guys.

The premise is simple a special forces solider with excellent shooting skills kills the brother of a drug lord and then he finds a large target on his back as he is now they prey. Of course getting to the protagonist and knocking him off is not going to be an easy task. Since he recently joined an elite fighting force and it currently training with them. Not deterred, the bad guys proceed and take on all comers as they are determined to get their man.

From a production stand point the visuals often call attention to themselves and things get bogged down during more dramatic moments. And the inability to establishing momentum leads to inconsistent pacing. And though the action set pieces are all well executed, they are at best mildly entertaining.

With so many things going awry, is should not come as surprise that the performance are generally lacking and at best described as over the top caricature portrayals of stereotypical characters all too well known to these type of films.

The BluRay:

Wolf Warrior comes on a 25 GB single layer BluRay. The film is presented in a 1080 progressive widescreen. This is a well authored transfer that does a superb job retained the intended look of this film. Image clarity is rock solid, there are no issues with DNR or compression.

This release comes with two audio options, a DTS-HD 5.1 mix in Mandarin / English and a Dolby Digital stereo mix in Mandarin / English. Both audio mixes sound clean, clear, balanced and robust when they need too. With the obvious up kick in terms of depth with the DTS-HD 5.1.

Extras for this release are limited to a trailer for the film and trailers for Northern Limit Line, Police Story: Lockdown, Kung Fu Killer and My Way.

Overall Wolf Warrior gets a solid audio / video presentation from Well Go USA.

Note: This film is also being released by Well Go USA on DVD.
