Synopsis: Women compete in a bikini contest in hopes of winning its grand prize, $10,000 and a role in a major motion picture.

Wild Malibu Weekend was made during an era when there was an influx of ‘bikini’ themed movies like, Bikini Car Wash Company, Bikini Summer, Bikini Bistro, Bikini Squad and countless other ‘bikini’ themed films.

Wild Malibu Weekend was the brainchild of actor Jason Williams, who most cult movie fans will remember from his role as Flesh Gordon. For Wild Malibu Weekend, he is a triple threat as the films screenwriter, actor and co-producer.

The plot is as basic they come for a T & A film. There is some very brief setup introducing all the main contests, who are going to be the ones that last tell the final rounds of the contest. You will know what I mean by this once you start watching. The girl’s who are more in the background are doomed to secondary roles and they quickly get eliminated. The bulk of this film is made up of the actual contest which consists of games like, musical chairs, bouncing balls off of asses and stomping on balloons.

There are T & A films that promise to deliver debauchery and then there are T & A films that deliver the goods and then some. Wild Malibu Weekend falls into the first category. Let’s just say that nudity is minimal and it amounts to nothing more than bare breasts, even the film’s one and only sex scene is very tame for a film of this ilk.

Besides a slow moving plot and lack of T & A, another area in which this film often comes up short are the performances of its cast. And while I was not expecting much, they somehow failed to meet my low expectations.

At least there are a few areas in which this film does gets things right. All the female leads are attractive and provide much needed eye candy. And the film’s deliriously bad dialog serves up a few unintentionally humorous moments. Most notably the film’s aforementioned sex scene.

The DVD:

Code Red presents Wild Malibu Weekend in a 1.33:1 full frame aspect ratio. This transfer look pretty good for a shot on video production. Details generally look crisp, there are no problems with compression and edge enhancement is never to excessive.
This release comes with one audio option, a Dolby Digital stereo mix in English. Range wise the audio is limited and at times it sounds muffled. These short comings aside, dialog does for the most part come through clearly enough to follow.

Extras are limited to trailers for Family Honor, Seeds of Evil (The Gardener), Weekend Pass, Jocks, They’re the Ghetto Warriors (The Black Gestapo), The Black Klansman, The Kidnapping of the President, The Babysitter, The Statue and Can I Do It…Til I Need Glasses?. Overall Wild Malibu Weekend gets a serviceable audio / video presentation from Code Red.
