Two Moon Junction was co-written and directed by Zalman King (Wild Orchid, Red Shoes Dairy). Two Moon Junction was also mark King’s debut as a director, he had previously been known for producing films like Roadie and Nine ½ Weeks.
Content wise this film has all the ingredients that would become a staple of King’s later films. Most notable when it comes to the way that he visualizes erotic themed moments. And in this film there is never a shortage of such moments. Most of them involving this film’s leading lady Sherilyn Finn who is most remembered for her performance as Audrey Horne in the television series Twin Peaks. Also King does not waste a frame in regard to his leading lady and though she has plenty of screen time were she is wearing nothing. He also makes sure that she looks radiant even in the other less sensual moments. Not to be overlooked is this films leading man Richard Tyson (Three O’ Clock High, Kindergarten Cop) who gives the female viewers their fair share of eye candy.
On the downside this film only sparely spends time fleshing out the characters as the main focus from the get go is to get to steamier moments. This lack of back-story does not prove to be that big of an issue since it is King’s direction that ultimately guides the viewer where he wants them to go. Also though the secondary characters are often not given that much to work with. There are several well-known performers in these secondary roles like Louis Fletcher (One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest), Burl Ives (The Big Country), Hervé Villechaize (Forbidden Zone), Kristy McNichol (Little Darlings) and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) in her first screen appearance. Ultimately Two Moon Junction is a well-made ‘Bodice Ripper’ that all culminates with a very satisfying climax!
Two Moon Junction comes on a 25 GB single layer BluRay. The film is presented in a 1080 progressive widescreen. Colors look nicely saturated, flesh tones look healthy and details look crisp throughout. Black and contrast levels look very good, grain looks natural and there are no issues with compression.
This release comes with one audio option, a DTS-HD Stereo mix in English and removable English subtitles have also been included with this release. This mix sounds clear and balanced throughout and robust when it needs too.
Extras for this release include a trailer for the film (2 minutes 10 seconds – 1080 Progressive Widescreen), reversible cover art and a booklet with liner notes about the film written by Calum Waddell. Overall Two Moon Junction makes its way to Blu-Ray via a strong audio / video presentation from 88 Films.
