Synopsis: Mayumi finally emerges from solitary to find herself in a new cellblock. A sweet, innocent shoplifter becomes her friend. For awhile.

Released a scant 4 months after the first installment True Story of Woman In Jail: Sex Hell, this must have been filmed virtually back-to-back. Again it is a serious attempt at WIP excitement, but this is the rare ‘sequel’ that equals or surpasses the original. Story is strong, pacing is good, conflicts are intense, overall casting and characterization are exceptional, and there is more than adequate nudity and sex. But the main improvement is that Kozue Hitomi is actually the central, stoic character of this one. Sex Hell was more of an rambling ensemble piece, here the initial conflict is between the notorious and now hardened Mayumi and the current queen bee. But, of course, it eventually comes down to mistreated prisoners against the evil prison establishment.

There are still a few flashback and external jailhouse (excuse me, reform school) segments, but they center on Mayumi’s motivation and her friend’s exploitation. The communal bath segments are here as well, but more prevalent and extended.  Seems this is one of the few times they don’t have guards breathing down their necks. So this is where we get ‘the naked truth’.

Well, and also after lights out. There are lots of pairings, mostly lesbian, but none the least notable is the psychotic baby killer and the sex-change recipient, “I am a woman”. How can it be such a secret with that huge adams apple?  Let’s hope those horrible breasts are just makeup effects.

Another top notch ‘roman pinku’ from Impulse, this is a very enjoyable WIP flick as well. Let’s hope the Nikkatsu Erotic Films Collection: CONTINUES.
