The Occult: The Truth Behind the Word, retraces the origins of the occult and how it has transformed over the years. In between comments from experts on the subject is narration which further fleshes out the information contained in this documentary. Before watching this documentary I had little knowledge about The occult. And like many the first thing that springs to mind when thinking about the occult is Satanism. And while there are many links between religion and the occult. The word and its original meaning “knowledge of the hidden” have been distorted over the years.
This documentary also explores how Shaman, magicians and religion all directly linked to the occult. One of the more interesting avenues this documentary explores a link between the occult and politicians and consumerism. Overall content wise this documentary is a good introduction for anyone who knows very little of the subject. And even though this is far from the definitive word on the subject. This documentary does pose many interesting questions.
