Synopsis: A group of bloodthirsty werewolves seeks vengeance for one of their fallen comrades, who was murdered by a stripper.
Content wise, this film does not bring anything to the table that has not be done and in many instances much better in countless other films. With that being said, just how much enjoyment one will get out of this film really comes down ones tolerance for tongue and cheek humor.
Right from the get go this film does not shy away from what type of film that it is trying to be and nowhere is this more evident than in its use of the Duran Duran song ‘Hungry Like a Wolf’ in the films opening credits. Besides the use of the aforementioned Duran Duran song, the film’s score has an 1980′s vibe written all over it and this use of retro music greatly suits the subject matter at hand.
Besides this film aforementioned use of tongue and cheek humor. There is an abundance of T & A on display throughout and being that this film also fits firmly within the Horror film genre. It should also be noted that there is never a shortage of bloodshed in this film. Just be forewarned that some of these moments of carnage may make some male viewers wince in pain.
Sure the plot is ludicrous, the performances are all way over the top and then some. And yet the end result is exactly what one would expect from a film titled Strippers vs. Werewolves.
Hell Hath no fury, like pissed off strippers!
The BluRay:
Strippers vs. Werewolves comes on a 25 GB single layer BluRay. The film is presented in a 1080 progressive anamorphic widescreen. Details generally look crisp, black levels fare well and there are no problems with compression.
This release comes with two audio options, a DTS-HD 5.1 mix in English and a Dolby Digital Stereo mix in English. Both audio tracks sound clear and balanced throughout. With the stronger of these two audio mixes being the DTS-HD 5.1 mix in English. This mix does a very good job with the soundtrack and more action oriented moments in the film.
Extras for this release include a trailer for the film (1 minute 37 seconds – anamorphic widescreen), a ‘Behind the Scenes’ featurette (11 minutes 27 seconds – anamorphic widescreen), which inlcudes some brief comments from the cast & crew and an audio commentary with producers Jonathan Sothsott and Simon Phillips. The audio commentary does a very good cover the various areas of this production and also manages to be equally entertaining as the main feature for which the participants are talking about. Also included with this release are trailers for other titles also available from Well Go USA. Overall Strippers vs. Werewolves gets a strong release from Well Go USA.
Note: This film is also being released by Well Go USA on DVD.
