Synopsis: When a diabolical being from another world decides to conquer Earth, the fate of humanity is put in the hands of five sexy high school girls with special powers.

Sexy Rangers is clearly a satire of the popular Super Sentai franchise, The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Also besides being a tongue and cheek send up the aforementioned The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, with more erotica based themes integrated into the mix and exploited for all their worth. Like the way in which the sexy rangers gain their powers, let’s just say that it something to do with their more than ample sized breasts. So if you are into gratuitous shots of girls in bikini’s, then this is the film for you, while just about everyone else are sure to get burned out on this film one trick pony long before the final curtain comes down.

Another similarity in which Sexy Rangers echoes the aforementioned The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are its wide array of colorful villains. Most notably a King Kong like robot with a unicorn horn and another robot, who’s has a camera for a head. Of course this rogue gallery of villains would not be complete without a dominatrix dressed female cohort, who whips her minions, when they fail their missions.

Plot wise, there is not really that much to the story at hand. Back-story is virtually non-existent, not that this hampers this film narrative in anyway. Visually this is not a film that is going to wow you artistically. With that being said, director Shinji Nishikawa clearly knows what the main draw of this film and he does not waist an opportunity to show off the female casts, who are all very attractive. Also by focusing on the psychical attributes of the actresses, helps divert attention away from the generally underwhelming performances.

The DVD:

Cinema Epoch presents Sexy Rangers in an anamorphic widescreen that retains the films original aspect ratio. Colors and flesh tones look accurate, black levels generally fare well, details look crisp and there are no problems with compression.
This release comes with one audio option, a Dolby Digital stereo mix in English and removable English subtitles have been included with this release. There are no problems with distortion and everything sounds balanced. Also the more ambient aspects of the soundtrack are well represented.

Extras for this release are limited to a stills gallery. Also included with this release is a promo image gallery of titles that are available on DVD from Cinema Epoch. Overall Sexy Rangers gets a well rounded audio / video presentation from Cinema Epoch.
