Synopsis: Miki is a ballerina whose star is on the rise. One evening after a performance Miki is approached by Akiko a once prominent ballerina who has since retired. They haven’t seen each other since Akiko’s brother Genichiro accident last year. Genichiro’s tragic accident also ended his relationship with Miki. Akiko entices Miki to visit her ballerina school in hopes that she might be able to see Genichiro again. Driven by jealously Akiko has ulterior motives for inviting Miki to stay with her at the ballerina school.

Sex Hunter Sei Kariudo was directed by Toshiharu Ikeda whose is primarily known for his work in the horror genre Evil Dead Trap, Evil Dead Trap 3: Broken Love Killer and Shadow of the Wraith. Other Pinku films that Toshiharu Ikeda directed include Blue Lagoon and Angel Guts: Red Porno. The screenplay for Sex Hunter Sei Kariudo was written by Masahiro Kakefuda (Horrors of Malformed Men, Sex and Fury, Female Yakuza Tale: Inquisition and Torture, School of the Holy Beast and the Sister Street Fighter trilogy).

The plot for Sex Hunter Sei Kariudo revolves around two ballerina’s Miki and Akiko. Besides both being ballerina’s they are both bound by their love for Genichiro. Akiko blames Miki for her brothers’ accident. Akiko who is desperate for attention and love from Genichiro who still only has feelings for Miki forcing Akiko too take drastic measures to gain her brother’s affection. By putting Miki through a series of humiliations Akiko hopes to obtain her goal.

The film’s opening ballet sequence with Miki is filled with beauty and innocence. Both of which are quickly washed away for the remainder of the film which depicts a much harsher reality. Visually director Toshiharu Ikeda doesn’t waist a frame as every inch of the film is meticulously designed for maximum effect. Some of the films sex scenes get pretty graphic and there are some moments that are digitally fogged to cover up the private areas.

The most memorable scene in the film is the first time Akiko fondles Miki. As the scene progresses director Toshiharu Ikeda shows the scene in the refection of a two way mirror. On the other side of the mirror is Akiko’s man servant who is sexually satisfying another woman. The use of mirror is very effective in this scene and director Toshiharu Ikeda this two way mirror motif many more times throughout the film.

Nikkatsu’s Pinku films are known for their perverse and often shocking moments. Sex Hunter Sei Kariudo doesn’t disappoint or hold back. This film includes whippings, rope bondage, orgies, lesbians, golden showers, snowballing, incest and a coke bottle enema. The subject matter is pretty excessive even for a Pinku Film. The most memorable dialog in the films occurs right after Miki is given a coke bottle enema. “We should share a coke more often”. The films climax ranks among the most memorable to ever close a Pinku film.

The DVD:

Sex Hunter Sei Kariudo is presented in an anamorphic widescreen that preserves the film’s original 2.35:1 scope photography. The source material used for this transfer is in exceptional shape. There are no signs of print damage. Colors look vibrant, flesh tones look natural and details look razor sharp throughout.

This release comes with one audio option a Dolby Digital mono mix in Japanese. Just like Geneon’s previous Pinku releases there are no English subtitles. Overall the audio is clean, clear and evenly balanced.

Extras for this release consist of the film’s original theatrical trailer (in Japanese) and a four page booklet (text in Japanese).Outside of Angel Guts: Red Porno none of Toshiharu Ikeda’s other Pinku films have made their way to English friendly DVD releases. Over the last year there has been an influx in Pinku films getting English friendly releases. So hopefully it is only a matter of time before Toshiharu Ikeda’s remaining Pinku films get English friendly DVD releases.
