Synopsis: Rica wanting a fresh start leaves her friends and past life behind or at least that is what she thinks as trouble always seems to find her. Rica looks into a ship that exploded and everyone who survived this disaster who comes in contact with her dies. Rica only chance of solving the mystery of the sunken ship is if she can locate a old friend of hers who just happened to be on that ship the night it blew up.

Rica 2 Lonely Wanderer follows the blueprint laid out by its predecessor Rica. The main difference this time around is that Rica who had a gang of girls backing her up is now a loner. Violence remains an integral part of her life with the opening of the film featuring as series of assassination attempts on Rica. Kô Nakahira returns as director he captures all the mayhem as it unfolds framing every moment with the utmost style. Actress Rica Aoki reprises her role as Rica. Her performance feels more polished and confident as she digs deeper into the persona of Rica.

Rica 2 Lonely Wanderer like most sequels ups the ante with the more is better mantra. The violence and action sequences are taken up a notch. For a pinky violence film the nudity is very toned done and non-existent. The plot for Rica 2 Lonely Wanderer is a bit far fetched and one has to wonder how with so many people out to get her how Rica always comes out on top. The bad guys in this film remind me of the inept bad guys one would find in an Austin Powers films. Ultimately Rica 2 Lonely Wanderer is a solid follow up to its predecessor Rica even though it lacks the freshness and inventiveness which made the first Rica film so endearing.

The DVD:

Rica 2 Lonely Wanderer is on par audio/video/extras with Exploitation Digital’s release for Rica. Extras include trailers for Rica, Rica: Lonely Wanderer and Rica: Juvenile’s Lullaby, a photo gallery (12 stills) and trailers for other Exploitation Digital titles.

Rica 2 Lonely Wanderer is the second film in a trilogy of films the third film Rica Juvenile’s Lullaby is scheduled for release on DVD from Exploitation Digital on December 18th, 2007. If you liked the first Rica film then will want to check out its sequel Rica 2 Lonely Wanderer which follows a similar structure and carries over all the exploitation clichés which make films like Rica 2 Lonely Wanderer so damn enjoyable.
