Synopsis: Jim an out of work screenwriter is pressured by his agent to write a screenplay for a horror. Plagued by writers block Jim is visited one day by an undead woman named Victoria who becomes his muse. To help the creative juices flow Victoria starts killing everyone who comes in contact with Jim.

Red Victoria was photographed, edited, written and directed by Tony Brownrigg who also appears in one of the film’s lead roles. He also created all of the film’s special effects. Tony Brownrigg is the son of S.F. Brownrigg who directed cult classics like Don’t Look in the Basement, Scum of the Earth and Don’t Open the Door!

Red Victoria is not a horror film per say as much as it is a satire on the horror film genre. The plot centers around a writer named Jim and his reluctant in writing a screenplay for a horror film. Jim feels that by writing a screenplay for a horror film that he is selling out. Enter Victoria who not only serves as his inspiration. She is also his guide as he travels through unfamiliar terrain. The horror and the humor go hand in hand in this film. The more Jim tries to get rid of or ignore Victoria’s advice. The deeper of a hole he digs for himself. The interplay between the Jim and Victoria is engrossing and wickedly funny. The visual look and acting fare exceed the film’s anemic budget. The film’s two lead’s Tony Brownrigg as Jim and Arianne Martin as Victoria, are flawless in their respective roles. Another performance of note is Edward Landers as Carl a horror film fanatic who tries to help Jim. Ultimately Red Victoria is a fun film that perfectly mixes comedy and the macabre.
