Synopsis: After attending her father’s wedding a young woman named Peaches crashes her car and ends up with amnesia. When she wakes up from her car wreck she is surrounded by two unscrupulous men who offer to help her regain her identity. Along the way she ends up a participant in a live sex show and falls in love with a doctor who unusual methods of recovering memory loss involve orgies.

Pretty Peaches was directed by Alex de Renzy who would later revisit the series for a second and a third installment. Other standout films also directed by Alex de Renzy include, Femmes de Sade, Baby Face and Long Jeanne Silver.

Content wise, though there are a few darker moments. The majority of this film presented with its tongue firmly in cheek. And the majority of this film’s humor resides in the outlandish way all the characters, especially the Peaches characters are portrayed. Pacing is never an issue as the character driven moments are just long enough and often very funny.

And when it comes to the sex scenes this film delivers and then some. With some of the standout moments being, a scene where Peaches gets a hose shoved up her ass by a deranged professor, then there is a live sex show sequence where a group of woman have their way with Peaches who is laying down and restrained and last but not least this film saves its best for last with an orgy scene where Peaches regains her memory and is reunited with her parents.

This film was conceived as a starring vehicle for Desiree Cousteau who was making her adult feature film debut and she would go onto win for her performance Adult Film Association of America’s best actress award. Other actress making their adult cinema debuts in this film include Juliet Anderson and Sharon Kane. While on the male end of the spectrum there are several well-known faces like John Leslie (Insatiable), Paul Thomas (Dracula Sucks) and Joey Silvera as one of the guys who abducts peaches after her accident. Overall Pretty Peaches is a solid example of adult cinema from its Golden age.

The BluRay:

Pretty Peaches comes on a 25 GB single layer BluRay. The film is presented in a 1080 progressive widescreen. This transfer was sourced from a brand new 2k restoration from original 35mm elements. Colors and flesh tones look accurate, details look sharp and there are no issues with compression or DNR.

This release comes with one audio option, a DTS-HD Mono mix in English. For a vintage adult film this sound very good, dialog comes through clearly and everything sounds balanced.

Extras on the Blu-Ray include trailers for Pretty Peaches II, Femmes De Sade and Baby Face II.

Extras on the DVD include trailers for Pretty Peaches II, Femmes De Sade and Baby Face II and interviews with director Alex de Renzy (19 minutes 24 seconds – anamorphic widescreen) and an interview with Dr. Ted Mcilvenna (11 minutes 3 seconds – anamorphic widescreen) who discusses how he meet and became friends with Alex de Renzy and how he has maintained an archive of his work. Overall Pretty Peaches gets an excellent release from Vinegar Syndrome.
