Porn-o-Rama is a 1992 behind the scenes series that interviews cast and crew members from the X Rated film industry. Porn-o-Rama was directed by Paul Norman who’s other notable films include Edward Penishands, The Erotic Adventures of the Three Musketeers and Wicked as She Seems.Porn-o-Rama is a five part pseudo documentary that is hosted by Alexis De Vell and Ron Jeremy who ask the questions that everyone has always wanted to know about the X Rated film industry. Some of the probing questions which are asked include sexual preferences of the talent, preparing for a sex scene, how adult stars deal with friends and family about their career choice, rehearsal for a scene, performing on camera, alternative career options, the people behind the scenes of a X Rated film, significant others who work in the X Rated film industry, locations used for X Rated film and mishaps on X Rated film sets.
There is no hardcore footage in this series as all sexual footage is blocked in such a way that nothing is ever exposed. One drawback about this series is that the sex footage which is used is often recycled throughout the series inducing some serious Déjà vu. There is one comment is Porn-o-Rama that is extremely disturbing. In one segment Cal Jammer is asked what he would do if he wasn’t working in the X Rated film industry, his reply “Kill Myself”. Three years later he would kill himself. Outside of this comment from Cal Jammer, the bulk of the comments made throughout Porn-o-Rama are tongue and cheek.
The DVD:
Previous released on DVD in the UK, Porn-o-Rama gets its first U.S. release via Private Screening Collection’s DVD release. Porn-o-Rama is presented in its original 1.33:1 aspect ratio. This shot on video production looks good, but not great. Colors look accurate and flesh tones look healthy and natural. Details look reasonably crisp and black levels fare well. This transfer is interlaced (there are some noticeable blurring / ghosting issues that vary in degree and there is some mild edge enhancement that never becomes intrusive.
This release comes with one audio option a Dolby Digital mono mix in English. The audio is free of any major audio defects and it is a more than adequate presentation.
This release comes with no extras outside of the main feature. This release comes with a static menu that allows you to either play all five segments at once or a play each segment separately option. Overall fans of adult cinema should get the most mileage out of Porn-o-Rama, while those with only a passing interest might lose interest quickly.
