The plot for On Top revolves around a young woman named Adriana, who’s career as a call girl allows her to live a life of luxury. And unlike other women of her profession, who are broken and have all but given up any hope of finding salvation. Adriana has a passion for what she does.
Her journey is told in a concise way that not only gives just the right amount of back-story. It also makes sure that momentum is never an issue by quickly establishing a brisk pace that never lets up. Also the way in which information is revealed in this film is done in a pitch perfect way. The film’s score plays just as an important part as the visuals do in setting the over mood of the story at hand.
If this where just a film about a successful call girl, then the end result would have been not had the resonance that this film ultimately does. With that being said, what makes this film so compelling to watch is the obstacle that the protagonist is faced with and how she overcomes it by not letting it affect her.
Anchoring this exemplary melodrama is its leading ladies performance. Cast in the role of Adriana is an actress named Nikki Estridge, who mind, body and soul flawless embodies this films protagonist. From the moment she arrives on screen it quickly becomes apparent why her clients are enchanted by her.
