The creative force behind the Midnight Blue cable access show was Al Goldstein the editor / founder of Screw magazine. This release opens with a brief clip of Danny Devito’s dead on parody of Al Goldstein on SNL. Another brief yet memorable clip is a flashback clip of Hypatia Lee doing an erotic dance that is granted to get you blood rising.

This release focuses on personalities who were prominent in the porn industry in the 1990’s. Interviews on this release include Teri Weigel, Veronica Vera, Holly & E.Z. Rider, Viper, Christy Canyon, Tom Byron, Sharon Kane, Jenna Fine, Ashlyn Gere, Nikki Dial, Randy West and Tami Monroe. The Interviews are the best part of this release with the standout interviews being Teri Weigel, Tom Byron, Ashlyn Gere and Nikki Dial. The one thing that also makes these interviews so enjoyable is the way in which Al Goldstein interacts with his guests.

Just like previous Midnight Blue DVD release there are vintage commercials that originally aired on the show and rants from Al Goldstein. This release also comes with a handful of parodies segments. The most memorable segment included with this release is titled “Special Report” and this segment is about Holly Rider’s crusade against porn after she left the business. Overall this is another satisfying collection of some of Midnight Blue’s standout moments.

The DVD:

The source material used for this transfer was the original ¾ inch masters which have seen better days. The audio / video presentation while not without its flaws it is a more than adequate presentation that never takes away from the content being presented. This release has not been flagged for progressive playback.

Extras for this release include three bonus clips titled “Ron Jeremy’s Guide to Cunnilingus”, “Annie Sprinkle’s Titty Cupcakes” and “Al Goldstein’s Fuck You!, to Jenna Jameson”. Rounding out the extras is a trivia track that gives background on the various gets being interviewed on the show.

The release also comes with some very cool computer monitor themed menus.

Overall Midnight Blue Volume 7: Porn Stars of the 90′s gets a DVD release that is on par with Blue Underground’s previous Midnight Blue DVD releases.
