Mai Lin Vs. Serena: Two adult film stars try to one up each other sexually in hopes of getting cast as the lead in Carlos Tobalina’s next film.
The simple premise which opens the film is the extent of this film’s character driven moments as any other dialog is just used to set up the next sex scene. The challenges that each lady sets out for the other are equally absurd and at times unintentionally humorous. On the plus side the sex scenes are well executed, especially the final which involves a tub for the two ladies and a lot of men for them to service.
Visually this is one of the more satisfying films that I have seen from Carlos Tobalina whose films tend to be hit or miss. With the majority I have seen falling into the latter category. And though both ladies more then fill the role of object of desire. It is ultimately Mai Lin’s presence that proves to be this film’s greatest asset.
Oriental Hawaii: A family struggling to get by financially decides to rent out rooms to a two college girls.
When it comes to the films of Carlos Tobalina he is no stranger to unusual plots. After all he did have a film were a man in a gorilla suit has sex. And in regards to this film I guess calling the events which unfold strange is not the best description, maybe a better suited word would taboo subject matter as the family that stays together plays together in this one. Also don’t be fooled by this film’s straight forward opening because once things get going the craziness really kicks up a notch.
Visually this film features some nice location footage and when it comes to the sex scenes things is an ample amount of heat. It should be pointed out that the first two sex scenes are girl on girl and the first boy / girl does not happen until the films last thirty five minutes. It is also this last section of the film where things really start to click as the film shifts into a nonstop sex mode. Though the film features several attractive ladies, it is once again Mai Lin who dominates the screen.
Both films are presented in anamorphic widescreen presentations that preserves their original aspect ratios. Also both of these new 2k scans were sourced from each film’s original 35mm camera negatives. Overall outside of some print debris in the opening titles for each film, the transfer for these two films look very good. Colors and flesh tones look accurate. Details generally look crisp and there are no issues with compression.
Each film comes with one audio option a Dolby Digital mono mix in English. Both audio mixes sound clean, clear and balanced throughout.
Extras are limited to a trailer for each film. Overall another strong double feature release from Vinegar Syndrome.
