Synopsis: A town with the utmost moral standards is forced to explore their more sinful sides. When the wealthiest man in town stipulates in his will that the only way the town will inherit his fortune is if a child is born out of wedlock in the sign of Taurus.

In the Sign of the Taurus was written and directed by Werner Hedman, whose other notable films as a director In The Sign of the Lion, In the Sign of the Gemini, Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Scorpio and Agent 69 Jensen in the Sign of Sagittarius.

In the Sign of the Taurus is a story about an uptight town who for years have been benefiting from the generosity of a perverted millionaire. They are forced to alter their beliefs when the millionaire dies from a heart attack. In his will he gives the town nine months and fourteen days to produce a child out of wedlock or they will lose his vast fortune. In a panic the town acquires the services of a locale prostitute to help them achieve their goals. The plot is very simple and once the original ground work is set in stone the bulk of what follows is mainly a series of sexual romps.

Visually a few of the more interesting moments include glory hole encounters at a boat house, a barber shaving a woman’s pubic hair (a very similar scene like this also occurs in the film In the Sign of the Virgin), educating young ladies about sex with bananas, two Can-can sequences and a hilarious montage were the town elders that are keeping an eye on the youth women and they are oblivious to what is really going on behind the scenes. The sex scenes are merely adequate with none that particularly stand out.

The film’s standout performance comes from Lone Helmer who is cast in the role of Carola the town’s leading fornicator. Her shining moment is a scene where she strips on top of a table while the town leaders try to come up with a plan on how they are going to meet the requirements laid forth in the millionaires will. Some familiar faces in the cast include Anne Bie Warburg (Justine and Juliette), Kate Mundt (Agent 69 in the Sign of Scorpio, Agent 69 Jensen in the Sign of Sagittarius), Bent Warburg (Justine and Juliette, In the Sign of the Gemini, In the Sign of the Lion, Agent 69 in the Sign of Scorpio) and Ole Søltoft who frequently collaborated with director Werner Hedman.

The DVD:

In the Sign of the Taurus is presented in an anamorphic widescreen that frames the image in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. Colors look nicely saturated, flesh tones look healthy and details look crisp throughout. This transfer has not been flagged for progressive playback.

This release comes with one audio option a Dolby Digital stereo mix in Danish. The audio sounds clear and balanced. Removable English subtitles that are easy to follow and error free have been included.

Extras for this release are limited to an image gallery that plays like a featurette with music from the film playing in the background. Overall In the Sign of the Taurus gets a DVD release that is on par with Smirk’s other DVD release from their Classic Danish Erotica series.
