Synopsis: A childhood hazing turns deadly twenty years later when those who were involved start turning up dead.
The film opens with a man retrained in chair and a wooden spike shoved into his mouth. The killer then walks into the frame with a cricket paddle and drives home the wooden spike. The plot continues to build on the brutality on display present in the first as additional bodies start piling up. The bulk of the film takes place in a remote location where the police have rounded up the remaining bullies who the killer has yet to knock off. The police in the film are not too bright and they play right into the killers hands.
The first acts which sets up the action, is the weakest section of the film with things finally clicking during the middle act only to lose momentum in the final act. All of the kills scenes are delightfully graphic especially a scene where one of the victims is forced to put on his crotch a protective cup that has nails spiked through it! The obligatory shower scene gives the films some much needed T & A. The one area that this film is pitch-perfect is its score / soundtrack that prominently feature’s hard driven rock music. Ultimately I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer is a down and dirty horror film that never strays away from its strengths.
The DVD:
I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer is presented is in an anamorphic widescreen that preserves the films original 2.35:1 aspect ratio. This is a clean looking transfer that looks detailed and the image remains stable throughout.
This release comes with two audio options a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix and a Dolby Digital stereo mix; both tracks are presented in English. Quality wise there really is no difference between the two as they both sound clear and balanced throughout.
Extras for this release include two brief segments titled “Joadja Diary” and “Audio Mix Diary”, an uncut version of the gratuitous shower scene from the film, a music video for a song titled “White Trash Hot Love”, another brief segment titled “Canteen Scene Grade” which shows the techniques that can be used to when color grading or framing the image, a six minute segment titled “Bloody FX” that gives a behind the scenes glimpse into the special effects from this film, a eight minute Q&A with the films directors Stacey Edmonds and Doug Turner, a fourteen minute making of documentary that includes comments from the bulk of the cast and crew and a feature length audio commentary with directors Stacey Edmonds and Doug Turner. There is a nice selection of extras that cover the various stages of this production with the standout extra being the audio commentary with Stacey Edmonds and Doug Turner. Overall I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer gets a fully loaded DVD release from Anchor Bay UK.
