Ladies Night: Three wives unhappy with their sports obsessed husbands go a male strip club.

The narrative follows the exploits a trio of neglected housewives and how their ladies’ night out allows them to fulfill their carnal desires. And though the ladies are the main focus of the film. Their husbands’ also take advantage of their absentee wives and invite a few cheerleaders over for an orgy.

The main attraction of this film is its leading lady Annette Haven (China Girl, Maraschino Cherry) in the role of this film’s protagonist a housewife named Betty. Another strength of this film is that the majority of the sex scenes feature Anette Haven. With the standout sex scenes being a fantasy sequences where Betty jerks off two male strippers and a scene where Betty is invited onstage by the club’s host who serenade’s her before they have sex in front of an audience.

Besides Annette Haven, other notable cast members include, Paul Thomas (Emanuelle around the World) in the role of the strip club host, Herschel Savage (Debbie Does Dallas) in the role of a bartender who spends the majority of the film receiving fellatio from a woman hidden behind the bar and Mike Horner (Snow Honeys) in the role of one of male strippers. And on thing that all three of these performances have in common is that they provide comic relief.

All around there is not an area where this film does not deliver and though this film was made at the dawn of the 1980’s, it still bears many of the traits that one would associate with the Golden age of adult cinema.

Her Wicked Ways: The second wife of a recently deceased billionaire finds herself in a power struggle with her stepdaughter over the family fortune.

The narrative for this film finds a good balance between its more melodramatic moments and sex scenes. And though the premise of an unvirtuous woman marrying a much older man for money has been done countless times before. The way the film approaches this subject matter and it’s out of left field ending ensure that there is never a dull moment.

Another strength of the film are its enthusiastic performances. With the most memorable performance being Jesie St. James (Tropic of Desire, Fantasy World) delivering a pitch perfect portrayal of a sex crazed gold digger. Another performance of note is Paul Thomas (Classical Romance) in the role of Riff Rafferty, a private investigator hired to dig up dirt on the unscrupulous widow.

The sex scenes provide an ample amount of heat. With standout moments including, a scene where the step daughter calls Riff Rafferty to acquire his services and while he is on the phone, he is having sex with his secretary. And a scene where the stepdaughter character fantasizes about having sex with a man, who her stepmother revives by giving him mouth to mouth resuscitation via fellatio.

The DVD:

Both films are presented in an anamorphic widescreen that retains their original aspect ratios. And both transfers were sourced from each film’s original 35mm negatives. Both transfers are in very good shape and print related debris is minimal. Colors and flesh tones look accurate, details generally look crisp and black levels remain strong throughout.

Each film comes with one audio option, a Dolby Digital mono mix in English. There are no issues with background noise, everything sounds balanced and dialog is always clear.

Extras for this release includes, a lengthy and insightful interview with The Lewis Brothers (70 minutes 12 seconds).

The audio interview with Elliot and Harry Lewis plays over Ladies Night like an audio commentary track. This audio interview is a detailed account of how they got into the adult film industry, the San Francisco adult film scene in the 1970’s / 1980’s, the origins of the Lewis Brothers name and information about the other two Lewis Brothers, information about various films that they worked on and background information about various actors and crew members that they have work with. This is a lively track that fans of the Golden age of adult cinema should thoroughly enjoy.

Overall another solid double feature release from Vinegar Syndrome.
