Lise (Daniela Poggi) a former Nazi death camp prisoner returns to the scene of the crime many years later with her torturer and lover Commandant Conrad von Starker (Adriano Micantoni). Unable to let go of what was done to her Lise recounts via a flashback the atrocities that befell her and the other prisoners. Lise seduces Starker one last time before exacting her revenge.

Gestapo’s Last Orgy is the apex of revolting cinema that all but vanished by the early 1980’s.  Gestapo’s Last Orgy was made near the end of the Nazi exploitation cycle while it certainly pushes the boundaries of good taste most of the torture and violence depicted in this film ceases to be shocking since it brings nothing those of us who have seen many of these types of films haven’t seen before. This not to say there are not a few scenes that will turn ones stomach like a woman covering herself in feces and eat them or a dinner table scene where a Jewish girl is placed in dinner dish on the table and then lit on fire. Alberto Baldan Bembo’s score is almost too good and at times it haunting motifs transcend the shocking images.

Visually director Cesare Canevari does a good job balancing plot what there is of it with the films many revolting images. While watching Gestapo’s Last Orgy one gets the feeling that the director was trying to make a more serious film then what ended up on the screen. The main plot of a prisoner and her Nazi captor is almost too similar to the plot from the Nazi exploitation film The Night Porter. Outside of the over the top performances from Adriano Micantoni and Maristella Greco the rest performances are all pretty standard. Ultimately Gestapo’s Last Orgy is one of the last true sleaze epics to come out during exploitations hey day the 1970’s.

The DVD:

Gestapo’s Last Orgy is presented in an non-anamorphic widescreen which retains the films original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The transfer was sourced from several different sources including what looks like VHS. The opening credits, the last few minutes and end credits looks the roughest as they look to be taken from a VHS source. The rest of the film looks colorful and sharp and it is free of any major print damage.

This release comes with two audio options English and Italian. Both are presented in a Dolby Digital mono. The Italian mix sound a lot better then the English audio mix which had distortion problems and noticeable hiss that varies in levels through out. Unfortunately no English subtitles have been included with the Italian audio mix.

Extras for this release include a gallery with twenty one stills/box art/posters and trailers for other Exploited Digital releases like SS Girls, SS Hell Camp, Convent of Sinners and Porno Holocaust.

Gestapo’s Last Orgy finally gets a official DVD release in region 1 from Media Blasters and while the audio/video presentation may be lacking the overall effort that has been put into this obscure slice of Euro-Sleaze is more then appreciated, recommended.

Note: Even though the DVD box art says that the film is presented in an anamorphic widescreen it is not.
