This is a schizophrenic collection: a combination of hardcore flicks with softcore, good prints with bad, and featuring slice and dice film editing that will drive anyone stark staring mad.
Disc 1 contains two softcore features, both in quite rough shape. The first features Rick Lutze sans Rene Bond, but the starlet of the film is a dyed redhead with silicone injections (natch). We see her strip, shower, and go see Rick. They have numerous bouts of simulated sex in his love nest, where most of the furniture is suspended from the ceiling by chains. Meanwhile she has a stalker, who eventually forces fellatio from her. She is devastated, of course, being the chaste virginal type. Another unrelated segment is tacked on to expand the run time (and the cast list). This appears to be an edited hardcore film.
Next comes The Family: the story of hippies who fornicate, smoke weed, and drop acid. The nominal cameraman was stupefied by something, but every once in a while he regains consciousness enough to move the tripod to the other corner of the room. The acid trip presents the opportunity to insert random fragments of hardcore footage and enable it to play XXX venues, otherwise there is lots of full frontal nudity, and seldom less than 5 or 6 bodies on screen.
Disc 2 has no more sexual insanity than found in most any other bargain basement adult feature, though both were thoroughly butchered in the editing room. In Girls Of The Band, the babes do loose all control just at the sight of John Holme’s member – even when he’s taking a leak (at least he gets to shake it once, first). There are lots of shots of a parade interspersed with all the hacked up storylines, but the deranged dissection award goes to Skin-Mag Confidential, which is reduced to an incomprehensible mess.
The DVD:
Newly transferred from film elements (1:33), these presentations are not dupey looking. Even so, be warned that the Rick Lutze feature is quite worn, and The Family is beat to death. The other two look pretty good. The remastering and original aspect ratio are the saving grace of this collection.
The Family is shoddy but manages to be spellbinding in a train-wreck fashion. In the end, ‘free love’ turns out to have a rather high price. The other features are typical no-budget adult fare, though some of the cars in the street scenes are quite exotic.
