Synopsis:A mentally disable Vietnam veteran now working at a gas station uses his job to track down women who he then rapes and kills. Many years ago when I stumbled across the film Water Power which is also known under the name The Enema Bandit I first became aware of director Shaun Costello and his more extreme brand of adult cinema. Up until that point I had seen films like Deep Throat, Debbie Does Dallas and The Opening of Misty Beethoven. Films like Water Power are most definitely a different kind of eroticism and while most viewers are immediately turned off by the level of brutally and violence in these type of films I was instantly hooked after seeing Water Power. Needless to say after watching Water Power I have tried to track down everyone of director Shaun Costello’s and while most are only available via grey market dealers they are still worth checking out despite there less then stellar audio/video quality.

When I first heard that Shaun Costello’s first film Forced Entry was getting a DVD release I was excited and equally hesitant since many of these golden age adult films don’t fare to well when release don DVD. To my surprise After Hours Cinema not only tracked down films elements they also got the films director Shaun Costello to participate on this DVD release.

The story for Forced Entry is simple a Vietnam vet takes out his rag on unsuspecting women. Anyone who has seen any other of Shaun Costello’s films will instantly see that even this early on in his career he had already establish his style and skills as a filmmaker. The sex in Forced Entry is not romantic or even erotic is it harsh and often down right offensive but then that was the point. Only one scene in the whole is not tape related and it takes place early on between two lovers one of whom becomes the Vietnam vets first victim.

The acting is neither good nor bad as everyone is more then satisfactory. Seeing the films lead Harry Reems playing such a nasty character is one of the best parts of the film as he just lets it rip as he totally looses himself. The films most disturbing moment is when Vietnam vet rapes and murders his second victim who was taking a shower. This scene looks almost to real as both actors are nearly flawless. Ultimately wither you will enjoy Forced Entry comes down to if you like you adult cinema down and dirty or do you like today more sanitized fare, if you fall into the previous category then you should thoroughly enjoy Forced Entry.

The DVD:

Forced Entry is presented in its original 1.33:1 full frame aspect ratio. The transfer for Forced Entry was sourced from the only known existing film print of the movie and even though time has taken its toll on the print used the end result is still the best this film has ever looked on home video.

This release comes with one audio option a Dolby Digital Mono mix in English. Despite some hiss/background noise the audio mix used is more the adequate.

The extras for this film are three 8 millimeter sex loops which range in length from 8 to 12 minutes each. The main extra and best part of this release is director Shaun Costello’s detailed and informative liner notes.

Overall After Hours Cinema has done a remarkable job with the directorial debut of Shaun Costello one of the golden age of adult cinema’s most talented filmmakers, recommended.
