Innocent Girl:A young woman, who has just arrived from Kansas. She is recruited by a pimp to work as one of his hoes.Content wise this film is pretty much your atypical story about a small town girl. Who gets involved with the wrong people. Ultimately leading her down the wrong path. Until her boyfriend saves her from a life of depravity. Even though the story is pretty standard stuff. Some of the sex scenes are at least inventive and at times amusing. In one sex scene there is a man, who performs sexual acts while hanging from a swing. In another sex scene a woman disguises herself as a man. The cast features two notable performers. Dory Devon in the film’s lead role. She is most known for replacing British actress Heather Deeley in the film Blonde Ambition. And Robert Kerman, who most cult movie fans will recognize from films like Cannibal Holocaust, Eaten Alive! and Cannibal Ferox. Overall Innocent Girl is a mildly entertaining sex film that has a Blaxploitation vibe to it.
The Young Nymphs: Two nymphomaniacs, Kitty and Kathy have their various sexual hangs up explored by a psychologist.
This one features a spooky sounding narrative that at times is reminiscent of Rod Serling. Narrating this film is cinematographer / director Charles Davis Smith (In-Flight Service). Reportedly he also directed this film. Even though it is credited to Ralph Lander? Content wise things gets overly clinical and the sex scenes come off as to mechanical. Pacing wise everything tends to drag. And just when it appears that things are heading in the right direction. More heavy handed psycho babble is served up with mixed results. The only cast member of note is Kim Pope in the role of Kitty. Some of her more notable films appearances include, The Collegiates, The Passions of Carol, Through the Looking Glass and she also did the English dubbing for the Italian film So Sweat, So Dead. When all is said and done. The Young Nymphs is a mediocre sex film that spends way to much time on its long winded explanations about the film’s two protagonists.
The Candy Store: A buxom Madame teaches her latest recruits the in and outs of prostitution.
Plot wise, things are as simple and to the point as you will ever see in an adult film. In between sex scenes. There is some idle banter between the Madame, her girls and the customers. This film was clearly made as a star vehicle for its leading lady a buxom blonde bombshell named Candy Samples (Flesh Gordon). The one area in which this film most let me down. Where its sex scenes which lacked any heat. And some of the girls looked bored. The only performer who looked even remotely interested was Candy Samples. When all is said and done. The Candy Store is a crudely made sex film that lacks cohesiveness.
All three film’s are presented in a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen. There are a few instances where the image looks a tad too tight. I suspect that these film’s intended aspect ratio’s should be 1.33:1.Print damage varies in degree on throughout. Colors look muted and black levels are consistently weak. The cleanest looking transfer is The Young Nymphs. While the roughest looking transfer is for The Candy Store.
All three film’s come with one audio option, a Dolby Digital mono mix in English. There is background noise that varies in degree throughout all three of these films. Also there are some mild issues with distortion. For the most part dialog comes through clearly. With the audio mix for The Candy Store being the weakest of the three audio mixes.
Extras for this release are limited to trailers for Slutty Stewardess Double Feature (In-flight Service / Come Fly With Me), Honeymoon Suite Grindhouse Triple Feature (Joe Rock Superstar / Honeymoon Suite / Come and Be Purified) and Grindhouse Virgin 2 Triple Feature (Virgin Forest / Virgin Maid / I’m No Virgin). This release allows you to play each film separately or a play all three option. When you choose the latter the trailers which are included in the extras section. They are played in between each film. Overall After Hours Cinema gives three more one day wonders their strongest releases to date.
