These “lost” films of Golden Age sexploitation/adult performer Tina Smith are indicative of the pre-porno chic era of cheap (and often nasty) one-day wonders, the likes of which were meant solely to capitalize upon the physical assets of Smith and her fellow costars with as little time or money spent as possible.

As such, most of the films contained within this set are short and to the point, often with a simple story and plot set up, the likes of which made these pictures tailor made for the peep show machines which littered New York City’s Times Square district in the 1970s.

The titular film, Panty Party is the worst picture included here, oddly enough, a tedious softcore exercise starring Smith and Rene Bond-along with Bond’s suitcase pimp/boyfriend Ric Lutze-who model a bunch of underwear for their salesmen boyfriends before engaging in lengthy bouts of simulated sexual humping. The film is shot without sound, and the dubbed in dialog really doesn’t do this boring film much justice at the end of the day.

Smith herself isn’t even really the “star” of all the films contained here, although it’s easily argued that her physical presence was clearly a selling point in making these films in the first place. The actress/performer is a true beauty-even if her thespian skills have little to no purpose to serve-and her appearances here elevate what would otherwise be a simple skinflick…well, into something at least a little more than a simple skinflick!

The other titles contained here in this collection offer a significant amount more hardcore action than Panty Party, although the actual storylines range from nonsensical (Tit For Tat, a.k.a. A Rod For Revenge) and sleazy (The Girl Watchers) to the lighthearted humor of Casting Couch, a hardcore taste of mistaken identity which serves as the most enjoyable picture on the set.

Make no mistake, however: The Lost Films of Tina Smith are ugly and poorly shot examples of early adult cinema, with the fact that most of these pictures possess little to no director/writer info to this day serving as evidence to the films as only so much product for their producers. Still, their rarity, tone and outrageous fashion sense make them interesting throwback pieces to the dark side of peep show cinema in the 1970s.

The DVD:

Alpha Blue Archives presents these scarce Tina Smith skinflicks in true grindhouse glory, filled with the sort of print scratches, jumps and dirt one would expect from material this old and obscure. This adds to the whole experience, to be honest, as most fans of this stuff likely wouldn’t have it any other way. Audio is also what one would expect for this material; serviceable, but not winning any awards for quality. The films with actual dialog serve much better than the dubbed features, that’s for sure. Overall, this release from Alpha Blue is a recommended set of sleaze for the Golden Age fan looking for pictures which were a little under the radar, even back in the 70s.
