In the first episode “Claire On Claire”, Claire interviews herself as she talks about her life past and present. As the guest she is in full retro glamour mode and talks a mile a minute about her early modeling, Playboy, Bettie Page clothing, the Erotica Channel, and especially her ongoing and continuously evolving Las Vegas review ‘Pinup’. As the interviewer she looks uncannily like Barbie Benton in her Playboy layout from March 1970. She is quite funny making a few snide comments about her own performance as the guest. Self deprecating humor is practically a lost art.

Episode two features images of many vintage Betty Page photos and an interview with the photographer Bunny Yeager. Bunny also does a nude photo shoot of Claire which is included in this extended edition of the program. There are occasional snippets of footage that look like they were sourced from old 8mm film, and that’s because they are [almost]. Included as an extra is the complete new 8mm footage taken of the Bunny / Claire photo session; and she looks even more like Barbie Benton here in the altogether.

The first of two introductions by Claire for presentations on the Erotica Channel is for the one-of-a-kind retro sexploitation flick Viva. I was captivated listening and watching her make nearly all the same points and draw similar conclusions to my review from Feb, 2009 (found HERE), but right is right so “Attagirl”. The second introduction is for Betty Page Bondage Queen, but I think it might have worked better if she was presented in the grainy 8mm footage format instead of the brightly lit and glossy modern glam visage.

The DVD:

These presentations were shot in various aspect ratios on differing media. The audio for the Bunny Yeager interview is somewhat distorted by a considerable amount of echo in the large exhibition hall location. The 8mm footage was a stroke of genius.

The ‘Claire on Claire’ episode should be watched first to indoctrinate you into the retro cheesecake world of Claire Sinclair. I now consider myself enlightened.
