Blood for the Muse was directed by Terry West whose other notable films include The Sexy Sixth Sense, The Lord of the G-Strings: The Femaleship of the String, Satan’s School for Lust and Flesh for the Beast. Terry West is currently working on a film titled Dreg which has been picked up by Media Blasters.
The film moves along rapidly with little time devoted to anyone outside of the films protagonist Josh. The rest of the characters are merely props that serve to further Josh’s killing spree. The story at times feels constrained. It is too bad more time wasn’t spent on fleshing out other characters and sub plots. Also the nihilistic nature of the Josh character makes this film a rather bleak affair. The film is based on a comic book that was also created by Terry West.
Josh Robinson is cast in the role of Josh. He does a good job of keeping the character right on the edge without falling off the deep end. The film’s most surprising performance comes from an actress named Tina Krause who appears in the film as three characters Clarine, Sara and Melpomene. Ultimately Blood for the Muse is a violent and at times sadistic look into the mind of killer that is not for the faint of heart.
