Synopsis:

Shane Ryan’s feature film debut Amateur Porn Star Killer is a disturbing piece of cinema which tries to pass itself off as a snuff film. In the end Amateur Porn Star Killer is a tense film that relies almost entirely on dialog to get across the killer’s menace. There is very little violence and no bloodshed in the films all too brief seventy one minute running time. Despite is short running time the films starts to drag in the second act before it regains its edge.

Visually director Shane Ryan does a superb job recreating the look of a low grade snuff type film. The films flesh and blood its strongest asset is actress Michiko Jimenez whose naivity and wiliness to explore new things. Amateur Porn Star Killer is far from the most graphic or brutal film about a serial killer out there. Despite its relatively short running tiem I did catch myself a few times wondering how much longer until the pay off.

Ultimately outside of pseudo snuff film fans everyone else will want to skip Amateur Porn Star Killer a film that at times is just a little too ruff around the edges.

The DVD:

Amateur Porn Star Killer is meant to look rough around the edges as the filmmakers’ intentions where to give it a snuff film like look visually. Overall the transfer looks very good and clear enough visually to make out what is going on.

This release comes with one extra an English language mix and English subtitles have been included. The audio sounds a tad too thin at times and watching with subtitles is recommended.

This DVD is loaded with worthwhile extra content like five shorts films and an interview with director Shane Ryan and actress Michiko Jimenez. Other extras inlcude a rive through crime scene tour (6 minutes) and 4 trailers.

Amateur Porn Star Killer is a truly unique which pushes the boundaries of sex and violence to the limit and this film can be fully appreciated via Cinema Epoch excellent DVD release.
