Synopsis: The Danish Intelligence Agency tries to track down a top secret micro-film that has been hidden in one of four identical women’s compact cases.
Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Sagittarius was co-written and directed by Werner Hedman, whose other notable films as a director includes In the Sign of the Gemini and In the Sign of the Lion. The screenplay for Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Sagittarius was co-written by Edmondt Jensen who had previously collaborated with Werner Hedman for the film, In the Sign of the Lion. They would also collaborate on a prequel to Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Sagittarius, titled Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Scorpio.
The plot for Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Sagittarius is a retread of it’s predecessor Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Scorpio. Many of the same comedy gags are recycled and the sex scenes are not as well integrated into the rest of the story. Also the sex scenes are not as inventive as they were in Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Scorpio. Another area where this film is lacking is that two of the main characters from Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Scorpio, Agent 69 Jensen and Penny are reduce to secondary roles in Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Sagittarius. The bulk of the plot for Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Sagittarius takes place in a weight loss clinic where sex is prescribed as the best solution for burning off unwanted pounds. At this sex clinic is also where the film’s only real standout moment visually takes place. All of the clients at the sex clinic are in an exorcise room using sex related machines to pleasure themselves or to assist them with their sexual partners.
The bulk of the cast are carryovers from Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Scorpio. Ole Søltoft is cast in the film’s title role of Agent 69 Jensen, Gina Janssen returns in the role of Matty Hari (Schoolgirl Report Part 9: Mature before Graduation, Sadomanía), Poul Bundgaard in the role of the Chief (Justine and Juliette), Anna Bergman in the role of Penny (Intimate Games, Adventures of a Taxi Driver) and Torben Bille cast as one of the evil henchmen (The Sinful Dwarf). The only performances of note in this film are André Chazel (I Am a Nymphomanic, Bel Ami) his character K.B. Andersen dies a tragic death after participating in a threesome and Lee Fong Wong who portrays a seductive Asian spy. André Chazel also appeared in Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Scorpio, as a different character then the one he is cast in for in this film.
The DVD:
Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Sagittarius is presented in an anamorphic widescreen that frames the image in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The image doesn’t look cramp or compromised (This film was most likely meant to be framed at a 1.66:1 aspect ratio). Colors look nicely saturated; flesh tones look accurate and detail look crisp throughout. This transfer has not been flagged for progressive playback.
This release comes with one audio option a Dolby Digital stereo mix in Danish. The audio sounds clear and balanced. Removable English subtitles that are easy to follow and error free have been included.
Extras for this release are limited to an image gallery that plays like a featurette with music from the film playing in the background. Overall Smirk gives Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Sagittarius a DVD release that is on par with their Agent 69 Jensen – In The Sign of Scorpio DVD release.
