Synopsis: A pizza joint hires beautiful women to deliver the goods on skateboards. Special delivery customers are given special services. A rival chicken franchise wants to put the Pizza Girls out of business and hire the Night Chicken to assault them.

This is one of the most gratifying sex comedies of the era for a host of reasons, the least of which is probably Bob Chinn’s rather pedestrian direction. Nevertheless he manages to follow John Thomas Chapman’s screenplay which is crudely inventive and features delirious dialog and bodacious puns. Most importantly, he wrote the various sex scenes as complimentary to the overall plot rather than as the main focus of the production.

The four Pizza Girls are Desiree Cousteau (Ann Chovy), Candida Royalle (Gino), Laurien Dominique (Shakey), Christine De Shaffer (Celeste). You gotta love the name Ann Chovy (“anchovy”) and the other pizza related names of the girls. Desiree does give one of her best ditzy bimbo characterizations, but that can grow tiresome pretty soon (as does the sight of her enhanced breasts). Candida Royalle was a notable star at the time and she looks quite good here (this is before she added some pounds). She’s given some of the best one-liners and delivers them well. Laurien Dominique is attractive and likable, but it is the relatively unknown Christine De Shaffer that steals every scene, clothed or not.

Christine was a prominent mens magazine model and saturated the adult news stands with her solo (mostly softcore) magazine layouts (both B&W and color). She is especially memorable here in the non-sex scenes due to her natural physical charms, personality, and line delivery. This was obviously the pinnacle of her mostly obscure adult film career [not counting Fantasm Comes Again], and she performs carnal acts with both the big male stars of the feature: John Holmes and Paul Thomas. She complains to the boss because she gets all the girl/girl gigs and has a few comical scenes with a female customer (that would be an order of Bell Pepper / Bell Pepper). What she really wants is the big salami.

The studs include a surprisingly good acting turn by John Holmes, Paul Thomas is on hand and Richard Pacheco hams it up to the hilt as a redneck jackass.

A good script with excellent dialogue and a great cast results in a film that is quirky and funny and a solid ‘porno chic’ feature and not just for the raincoat crowd.
