Another great year and narrowing down the choices was not an easy task. Now without further ado here are 10kbullets picks for best releases for the year 2016.

Bande à part – BluRay / DVD Combo (BFI)
“Despite being regarded as one of his most straight forward narrative of his career. There is one area that is never lacking throughout Bande à part and that is Godard’s need to innovate.” – Michael Den Boer

“The result is a total horror classic which still manages to entertain just as much as it did during its initial run on New York’s legendary 42nd Street theaters.” – George Pacheco

Blood and Black Lace – BluRay / DVD Combo (Arrow Video USA)
“Where Bava’s previous giallo The Girl Who Knew Too Much, helped usher in a new era in regards to Italian made thrillers. With his next giallo Blood and Black Lace, he would make such a quantum leap that there have been very few giallo’s that have even come close to scratching the surface of what this film was able to achieve.” – Michael Den Boer

Pigs – BluRay / DVD Combo (Vinegar Syndrome)
“Pigs is a cult slice of Seventies cinema from the earlier part of the decade, and yet another example of how this period was such a fruitful one when it came to bizarre, left-of-centre filmmakers with unique stories to tell.” – George Pacheco

Symptoms – BluRay (Mondo Macabro)
“Symptoms is an extraordinary psychological thriller that has been cut from the mold as films like, Repulsion and Don’t Look Now.” – Michael Den Boer

Doctor Butcher M.D. / Zombie Holocaust – BluRay (Severin Films)
“Zombie Holocaust is basically a mash-up of Fulci’s Zombi 2, Slave of The Cannibal God and some Deodato cannibal action thrown in for good measure.” – Giuseppe Rijitano

Women in Love – BluRay / DVD Combo (BFI)
“Women in Love gets a definitive release from BFI, highly recommended.” – Michael Den Boer

“When it comes to sex in cinema no matter how far the boundaries are pushed. There are always going to be film’s like Private Vices, Public Pleasures that shock even the most jaded person.” – Michael Den Boer
